Recently US has taken some major steps for south east Asian countries, with naked eyes and ears those efforts seems to be very useful for respective countries. Lets see original view of those efforts.
1. Nuclear deal with India - US is going through deeper recession, so to stabilize its economy it has to provide new emerging markets to its companies. India is the best option for that , Nuclear deal is targeted for get access to billion dollar Indian market.
2. Billion dollar military aid to Pakistan - this will enlarge gap between India and Pakistan, with providing Pakistan with huge sophisticated military weapons, US is trying to make India feel insecure about its security which indirectly lead India to buy more hi-tech weapons from US which will cost 100 or more times more than its aid to Pakistan.
If this military up-gradation of pakistani forces will not done then india will not immediately think for weapon purchase, and india will get time for its Weapon R&D which may lead india to develop its own weapons.
3. Joint military exercise with India and "ready to modernize indian military" - US is ready to support modernization of indian military.. 70% of US economy depends on its arm sell which is very low now days, as Pakistan is not in a financial situation to do large weapon deals with US. US is targeting other countries like India which can be large customer of US weapons. So by doing joint military exercise with india, US is trying to show new weapons to indian military (A demo of products as done by sells-men), and making indian military feel inferior. This is a marketing strategy by US to sell there products (Weapons ).
